چکیده

The E-model brings a modern approach to the computation of estimated quality, allowing for easy implementation. One of its advantages is that it can be applied in real time. The method is based on a mathematical computation model evaluating transmission path impairments influencing speech signal, especially delays and packet losses. These parameters, common in an IP network, can affect speech quality dramatically. The paper deals with a proposal for a simplified E-model and its practical implementation into the Monitoring module. In order to enable the comparison of results achieved, PESQ (Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality) was applied in accordance with ITU-T recommendation P.862, nowadays regarded as the standard for determining MOS, the measurements confirmed the applicability of the proposed method and its suitability for speech quality assessment. Key-Words: E-model, MOS, R-factor, PESQ, Speech quality, BESIP

Towards Non-intrusive Speech Quality Assessment for Modern Telecommunications

In a competitive telecommunication market where price differentials have been minimized, quality of service (QoS) has become very important. Speech quality is a major dimension of perceived QoS, and the ability to monitor and design for this quality is a top priority. Traditionally, the perceived quality of speech has been measured by expensive and time-consuming subjective listening tests. Ove...

Non-Intrusive Speech Quality with Different Time Scale

Speech quality evaluation is an extremely important problem in modern communication networks. Service providers always strive to achieve a certain Quality of Service (QoS) in order to ensure customer satisfaction. Modeling the speech quality becomes an urgent issue. In this project a computable model for different time scale speech quality evaluation, called E-Model is developed. The results in...

A Bayesian approach to non-intrusive quality assessment of speech

A Bayesian approach to non-intrusive quality assessment of narrow-band speech is presented. The speech features used to assess quality are the sample mean and variance of bandpowers evaluated from the temporal envelope in the channels of an auditory filter-bank. Bayesian multivariate adaptive regression splines (BMARS) is used to map features into quality ratings. The proposed combination of fe...

Perceptually Motivated Non-Intrusive Assessment of Speech Quality

In this contribution, we present a non-intrusive assessment technique that aims to reproduce some human perceptual mechanisms. We model a set of perceptually relevant features extracted after an auditory transform of clean speech. This internal source-model is used to characterize any occurring distortions. Preliminary results are given to illustrate the characterization of distortions by some ...

Non-Intrusive Estimation Model for the Speech-Quality Dimension Loudness

In this article, we present an approach towards a new nonintrusive speech quality estimator. The proposed method facilitates the evaluation of speech telephony services and provides diagnostic information by assessing dimensions of the perceptual quality space. One of these quality dimensions is Loudness, which describes a non optimal sound level. As an important part of the proposed model, a n...
